Numb At Netflix
by

1) Out of respect for Hollywood talent who put their money where their mouth is, we salute Kevin Costner and his decade long research and investment into his contraption that separates oil from seawater. British Petroleum has given Costner a thumbs-up. So shall we.

2) It still amazes me that everyone in the world does not love or respect Woody Allen as much as I do. Today, we suggest his 1996 brilliant and slaphappy “Everyone Says I Love You” Everyone will fall in love with Natalie Portman, Drew Barrymore, Julia Roberts, Goldie Hawn, Tim Roth, Natasha Lyonne and Edward Norton, all of whom may not be singers but sing nonetheless. A large, rich family on Manhattan’s Upper East Side live their life as if it’s a 1930′s musical. And it is music from the Thirties that they happen to sing. This film is a great antidote to losing your job or a lover and a lot safer than drinking.

3) Once we saw ‘The Mothman Prophecies” we cannot get it out from under our skin. This mystery is deeply obsessive and hauntingly drawn out by director Mark Pellington, an industry vet who does not work as often as he should. Richard Gere plays a distraught reporter who becomes obsessed with The Mothman of Ohio folklore. Laura Linney is the town sheriff who becomes a victim, survivor and savior. We watch this 2002 film at least once a year.
