We like to think highly of ourselves. Just when you think you have a leg up, a crown on your head or a coin in your pocket, rest assured: You just got your boot stuck in a bucket. Someone always has a shinier coin or a fancier crown. Luck is the great leveler.

A high-minded and high-styled friend of ours, Augusta, had recommended the film “I Am Love” starring Tilda Swinton. I sent her an email, bragging about Slim Diltsen, the hot new film columnist at FortunaDaily.com and her review of the movie.

While the email lavished praise on Augusta’s good taste, it was designed to evince a sophisticated superiority. Kinda of a “Thanks for the recommendation, but our reviewer said it better.”

Augusta replied, “I’m gonna go see it again with Tilda on Saturday night in Paris…. oh well. xoxoxoxoxoox”

Oh, well. You can’t top that.
